According to the National Institute of Mental Health, over 43 million adults in the United States suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition. Mental health conditions are often the most unlikely illnesses to be acknowledged, but can be the most manageable to overcome. However, you don't need to have a mental illness to ask for help. Those who seek therapy are proven to be significantly more successful at navigating life’s challenges than those who remain without treatment.

At Counseling Space, our therapy and counseling services employ the same “strength-based perspective” that guide our other specialties.  We work with you to identify what makes you strong, and develop a plan that empowers you to face and work through your challenges.

We provide comprehensive mental health counseling in the following areas:

Are you experiencing excessive worrying, nervous feelings, and restlessness?
At Counseling Space, we spend time with each client to develop an individualized anxiety treatment plan. Drawing from both individual counseling and community resources, our team finds a collaborative, goal-oriented approach that works for you.

Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions affecting adults in the United States.
At Counseling Space, we provide comprehensive counseling to manage depressive thoughts and treat this common condition. Our team teaches clients how to tap into their inner strength to gain new skills and challenge depressive thinking. We also coordinate available resources to promote recovery.

Substance Abuse

At Counseling Space, we provide specialized counseling for those facing substance abuse. As a former substance abuse counselor, founder Leslie M. Garcia deeply understands the assessment and treatment of this complex condition. We work closely with clients and their families to create an individualized plan for recovery. We also provide counseling services and support for those who are impacted by a loved one’s substance abuse.

Most people will experience a traumatic event during the course of their lifetime, such as the sudden death of a loved one or an expected illness.  If you or your loved one has experienced trauma, Counseling Space can help. Drawing from her experience working directly with first responders of the World Trade Center attacks, Counseling Space provides trauma-specific mental health counseling.  We work with clients to understand and process trauma they have suffered, then creates a personalized treatment plan to cope with resulting symptoms and emotions.
